Background
Jane Springwater received her BFA from Washington University in St. Louis, with a focus on conceptual art. She also obtained her JD from Washington University, and subsequently practiced law until 2019.
She debuted at Municipal Bonds in San Francisco with a duo exhibition in 2024, followed by a solo show in 2025, and will have a solo presentation with Municipal Bonds at FOG Focus in San Francisco, California, January 21 – January 25, 2026.
Her work has also been featured in the Headlands Center for the Arts Benefit Auction (2017, 2018, 2020, 2023), and in group exhibitions at Seager Gray Gallery, Mill Valley, and Kala Art Institute, Berkeley (2018). In 2023, she received first prize for her etching in the national Works on Paper competition at the Long Beach Island Foundation for Arts and Science in Loveladies, NJ. Between 2019 and 2023, her work was also exhibited in national and international juried competitions, receiving numerous awards, including Woolwich Contemporary Print Fair, London, England (2022); Sanchez Art Center (Regional), Pacifica, CA (2022); 12th Annual International Juried Exhibition, Gallery 110, Seattle, WA (2022); Transitions, 7th Annual Juried Exhibition, The Piedmont Center for the Arts, Piedmont, CA (2021); Searching for Meaning, Gallery Route One, California Society of Printmakers Juried Exhibition (2021); Ink & Clay 45, National Juried Competition, Cal Poly Pomona, W. Keith & Janet Kellogg University Art Gallery, Honorable Mention Curator’s Award (2021); Brand 48: Annual National Exhibition of Works on Paper, Glendale, CA (2020); 10th Annual International Juried Exhibition, Gallery 110, Seattle, WA, People’s Choice Award (2020); Axis Gallery, Sacramento, CA (2019); Works on Paper, National Juried Competition, Long Beach Island Foundation for Arts and Science, Loveladies, NJ (2019); Ink & Clay 44, National Juried Competition, Cal Poly Pomona, W. Keith & Janet Kellogg University Art Gallery, Honorable Mention Juror’s Award (2019). Springwater has participated in fifteen annual summer etching workshops at Crown Point Press where she has made all of her etchings. Springwater is represented by Municipal Bonds.
